SonShine Street

Our children are extremely important to our church family. We take great care in creating an environment where our chldren can focus on, learn, and apply the Bible teachings that they get every week.

Our SonShine Street is a unique learning experience.  See the section below for more details.  Each teacher and volunteer is required to undergo a background check for security.  Additionally, each student is accounted for through our KidCheck system.  We want to provide a safe and engaging environment for learning all about God's will for us.

At Sonshine Street, we believe Sunday School doesn’t have to look like “school.”  In our rotational model, Kindergarten through 5th grade students focus on one Bible lesson for five weeks in a row – each week through a different medium.  This slower pace allows for greater creativity, while generating a sense of anticipation and freshness each week.

  • In HolyWord Studios, the students may see a Bible story come to life through an animated film (don’t forget popcorn!).
  • In the Museum of Bible History, students walk through the geography, culture, and experiences of Bible times with artifacts and maps.
  • In the Mustard Seed Café, the students explore the lesson through food.  Students prepare – and often eat! – a recipe relating to the Bible lesson in our child-friendly kitchen.
  • In Noah’s Arkade, students team up for role-playing, obstacle courses, puzzles, and other hands-on activities.
  • In How Great Thou ART Gallery, the students are able to unleash their artistic abilities with drawing, painting, mosaics, and even pottery!

At Concord Street Church of Christ, we want you to be confident that your children are receiving high quality Bible education in a safe environment so you can attend your own Bible study worry-free.  That is why all children’s ministry volunteers have passed state background checks and have been trained on proper child care procedures.  All children 2nd grade and under must be accompanied to class by a parent or other adult, and picked up from class by a parent or other adult.  Children 2nd grade and under will not be released from class alone, or to anyone under 18.  Please inform your child’s teacher of any food allergies or other health concerns your child may have that we should be aware of.

If you do have any questions or concerns regarding Concord Street’s children’s ministry, please feel free to contact one of our elders or our children’s ministry coordinator Meghan Hone.
