The Bible, both Old and New Testament is God’s inspired word through His Holy Spirit. We use the Bible alone as our sole authority and guide for everything we practice and preach. (2 Pet. 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17) The church is the community of believers that belong to Jesus the Christ. He is our head and we are His body. (Eph. 1:22-23) He is our King and we are His kingdom. We belong to Him through His purchase of us by His blood. (Acts 20:28) That is why we refer to ourselves as the church of Christ. Salvation is in Christ alone. (Acts 4:12) He gives us the opportunity to come to Him through obedience to His gospel. (2 Thess. 1:7, Heb. 5:9) The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was resurrected to reign as King on His Throne. (1 Cor. 15:1-5, Acts 2:33) We obey the gospel through our baptism into Christ, where we die to our old man of sin, are buried with Him in baptism, and rise to walk in a new life free from sin and it’s eternal consequences. (Rom. 6:1-8) Worship is man’s act of devotion towards God from our hearts obeying what He has authorized. We worship Him, not ourselves. We seek to worship him as the Lord commanded us, in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:22-24) In the New Testament, we see by the first century church’s example that they were commanded to sing, pray, partake of weekly communion, contribute to the Lord’s work, and give public attention to God’s word. (Eph. 5:19, Col. 3:16-17, 1 Tim. 2:8, 1 Cor. 11:17ff, 1 Tim. 4:13)
